CINCINNATI (August 1, 2022) —
Dear United Way friends,
As our 2022 annual campaign approaches, I am pleased to formally introduce this year’s campaign chair, Greg Carmichael. He recently retired as CEO of Fifth Third Bancorp, and he remains executive chairman of Fifth Third.
We are extremely fortunate to have Greg as our campaign chair. He is ideally suited to lead fellow volunteers in inspiring donors to support United Way in our mission to use data, best practices and community-driven solutions to achieve economic well-being for everyone in our region.
Greg has a distinguished record both as a businessman and as a humanitarian. Just two examples: Under his leadership, Fifth Third ranked as the top-performing bank for shareholders in its peer group. And in 2021, 3BL Media honored Greg as Responsible CEO of the Year for Community Impact. The award recognized his exceptional leadership and dedication to Fifth Third’s significant impact on communities it serves.
With Greg at the helm, last year more than 16,000 Fifth Third Bank employees participated in United Way campaigns across the country. They pledged more than $5.6 million nationally including more than $3 million in Greater Cincinnati to help us continue our work in building a community where everyone can thrive.
On chairing the campaign, Greg said:
“I believe in Greater Cincinnati and know that to be our best, we need thriving families, an educated community, and stable housing. United Way is critical to supporting those goals and I’m proud to lead the campaign to fuel success.”
Given the passion and respected leadership he brings to the role, I am delighted to have Greg chairing this year’s campaign.
Sincerely,
Moira Weir
