CINCINNATI (March 13, 2023) —

Dear United Way friends,

With about a month until the April 18 tax deadline, this is a busy time at our Free Tax Prep sites, where trained, IRS-certified volunteers provide free tax preparation and filing services for low-to-moderate-income taxpayers.

Such was the case recently when several dozen people – young and old, retirees and working people, English and Spanish speakers – visited our Free Tax Prep site at the Center for Great Neighborhoods in Covington.

Free Tax Prep aligns perfectly with United Way's efforts to help people achieve financial well-being. The service puts millions of dollars back into the community and into the hands of people who need it for essential items such as food, rent, mortgages, transportation and the like.

At each site, volunteers make sure eligible taxpayers receive credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit, which play an important role in reducing poverty. United Way is a strong advocate for those programs.

Free Tax Prep validates the work of United Way and reinforces our commitment to ensure financial stability for everyone in our region.
