CINCINNATI (August 4, 2022) — We are extremely grateful for your help in collecting backpacks and school supplies for local students!
Thanks to our partners and volunteers, we have collected more than 1,800 full backpacks (300 above our goal of 1,500) and received 4,650 items through our virtual product drive totaling nearly $13,000! Quality education is an important part of financial stability for families. Thank you for your commitment to ensuring more than 1,800 young people arrive at school prepared to learn.
The backpacks and school supplies will be distributed during community events hosted by our organizing partners throughout July and August. These will celebrate students and their families, and provide critical services and support, including health screenings, personal care items, and school shoes and uniforms.
Our first distribution event occurred on July 30, 2022 at Corinthian Baptist Church with our partners: Corinthian, Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist, Allen Temple AME, Christ Memorial Baptist Church.
The second was August 13 at Chase Elementary School with help from Guiding Light Mentoring.
The third occurred at the Kennedy Heights Arts Center during the Legacy Pointe Church Back-To-School Community Block Party on August 20.
A special thank you to our organizing partners for their ongoing dedication and support of the community: Corinthian Baptist Church (in collaboration with Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist, Allen Temple AME and Christ Memorial Baptist Church), Legacy Pointe Church, and Guiding Light Mentoring and Chase Elementary School.
