CINCINNATI (April 9, 2024) – United Way of Greater Cincinnati (UWGC) is proud to share our latest Community Impact Report demonstrating a thoughtful new approach to tackling deep-rooted issues. The report solidifies the organization as far more than a funding pipeline for nonprofits; we've become passionate advocates and motivated doers, guided by data and informed by community voices.
Last year UWGC worked with 86 funded partners to innovate solutions-oriented pilot programs, engaged with 9,000 volunteers and 290+ Workplaces That Care, collaborated with 460+ trusted community organizations, and invested $36 million to address immediate needs and long-term economic well-being.
“United Way is a true convener when it comes to collaborating and bringing organizations and individuals together to really impact true systems change and mitigate financial hardship,” said Barbara Turner, Chair, UWGC Board of Directors. “I’m proud of the new path we’ve laid out and what we’re accomplishing together.”
UWGC’s approach is twofold: Meet urgent needs so people get relief now while also addressing systemic barriers so fewer families experience hardship in the long run. We’ve identified three focus areas — educational success, financial empowerment and housing security — that we believe are key to unlocking economic well-being.
“We know day-to-day programming is not enough to help struggling families overcome generational hurdles and systemic deficiencies,” said Moira Weir, UWGC President and CEO. “So, we became laser-focused and considered how we could make a meaningful impact in everything we do. I am energized by our progress and confident that, together, we are building a future where everyone can thrive.”
The 2023 Community Impact Report details the strategic framework that’s guiding our work, including how we take action, advocate and invest to reach key milestones. Other highlights include:
